Ellis Beach is the last Surf Life saving patrolled beach before you reach Port Douglas. Ellis Beach Surf club is a very competitive club on the summer circuit and lot's of families from as far as Cairns city are members of this club. They even have their own club house to store equipment and hold functions. Ellis beach is very much a rainforest clad enclave and the carpark is a dirt track that you park your car under a shady tree wherever possible. Ellis Beach has a popular cafe come Tavern on the mountainside of the highway which is popular for light lunches or big heavy meals such a giant burgers and chips. They also have live music here at times thru the year. The beach is just beautiful and the vista is across to Double Island and Scout Hat Island is picture perfect. You will always see the prawn trawlers or luxury boats tucked in behind Double Island for protection from the winds and tides just bobbing up and down. There are camping grounds and Bungalows on the beachfront tucked under the giant rain trees for short or mid term stays. The Elllis Beach Bungalows offer communal shower and barbeque facilities and are also very popular with the locals for a short getaway. Ellis beach is a very quiet tranquil beach with a stunning outlook yet offering every facility you require for a day at the beach.
